Big Country Radio began broadcasting in 1974 as Steamboat and Routt County’s first radio station. Broadcasting with 10,000 watts 24 hours a day, KBCR FM continues to be Steamboat Springs hometown station.

In addition to having the number one format, KBCR FM carries ABC News along with The Huckabee Report with Mike Huckabee, When residents and guests want accurate and up to the minute news, they tune to KBCR FM. Broadcasting at 1000 watts 24 hours a day, ESPN AM 1230 continues to be Steamboat Springs hometown station with complete coverage of Denver Broncos football, Major League baseball, College Football and Steamboat Springs High School sports.
The Bench also carries Steamboat only local talk show “Harvey’s Huddle” with guests from all over the county on Mondays and Thursdays. The format on ESPN AM 1230 is “sports talk”. It features a 24-hour, 7 day a week sports format. All the national and local sporting events and sports talk. Including Mike and Mike in the Morning.
