Six-time Olympian Todd Lodwick will carry the American flag during the Opening Ceremony of the Sochi Olympics, Team USA announced Wednesday.
Lodwick has skied at an elite level in Nordic combined events for two decades. He’s participated in every Winter Games since 1994: Lillehammer, Nagano, Salt Lake City, Torino, Vancouver, and now Sochi. His best finish is a silver medal in the men’s team event in Vancouver.
He punched his ticket to Sochi by winning the U.S. Olympic trials in December, but dislocated his shoulder in a World Cup crash in France in January. “I have every intention of rehabbing this in time to be an integral part of the team,” he told ESPN at the time. “Don’t count me out.”
